A female passenger is removed from Amtrak's Broadway Limited by Gary, Ind., firefighters Tuesday after the train hit a semitrailer truck and partially derailed. The rig's driver was killed and five crew members and nine passengers were taken to hospitals with minor injuries. A locomotive and a car jumped the track but stayed upright. It was the third Amtrak derailment in a month. About 30 passengers sought first aid at Chicago's Union Station, Amtrak said.
