Financing efforts toward a long-term care facility in Panguitch are on target as members of the Garfield Memorial Health Care Foundation seek to fill a commitment to raise $100,000.
However, the foundation's pledge is only part of the overall funding needed for the project, said project coordinator Dennis Moser. The new facility will cost about $650,000, to be built adjacent to the Garfield Memorial Hospital. The Utah Community Impact Board has approved $300,000 in funding; meanwhile, $200,000 will be obtained through a community development block grant, and Panguitch City will contribute $50,000.
Moser reported that the Five County Association of Governments is spearheading analysis and clearances for historical, archaeological and wildlife interests in connection with federal funding. An attorney has been hired to assure proper compliance with federal requirements.
Construction of the long-term care facilities is expected to begin next March.
