A Utah National Guard unit and several area residents were honored for their special services to the Central Utah Correctional Facility during the 1993 Founders Day program.
Members of the Utah National Guard unit in Mt. Pleasant were recognized for voluntary engineering and earth moving work in helping to build a new target range at the prison.Education of inmates has played an expanding role at the institution, and educators who have helped in that effort were also honored. These include Vince Lofferty, director of Utah State University department of continuing education; Lewis Mullens, South Sanpete School District superintendent; Richard Maxfield, Sevier Valley Applied Technology Center director at Richfield; and Gerald Day, president of Snow College.
