Britain's oldest surviving general, Sir Philip Christison, died Tuesday at his farm in Melrose in southern Scotland, a month after celebrating his 100th birthday. Christison, shown in a 1945 photo, accepted the Japanese surrender at Singapore Sept. 3, 1945. Christison distinguished himself in both world wars. He is survived by two daughters.
