Johnny Selvie led five New Mexico State players in double figures with 13 points and seven rebounds, guiding the Aggies to an 82-65 win over Southern Utah on Wednesday night.
Corey Rogers added 12 points, Paul Jarrett had 11 and D.J. Jackson and Rodney Walker scored 10 each as New Mexico State (6-1) cruised to victory in the non-conference contest.Southern Utah (5-4) led 12-11 midway through the first half, but the Aggies took the lead for good when Jarrett connected on a 3-point basket with 9:28 remaining before halftime. New Mexico State steadily pulled away and led 43-28 at intermission.
The Thunderbirds made a run late in the game, cutting the lead to 11 points (74-63) on a basket by Donnie McDade with 3:36 to play. But Southern Utah would get no closer, and New Mexico State's 17-point margin of victory became the Aggies' largest lead of the night.
Sean Allen led Southern Utah with 21 points, nine rebounds. Andy Ward scored 16, while Kim Blackner added 12.
