"Tops in Blue," the U.S. Air Force's touring group, will present a free public concert Sunday, Jan. 23, at 7:30 p.m. at Northridge High School, 2430 N. Hill Field Road (400 West).

Members of this entertainment group, founded in 1953, are chosen in an annual competition that involves more than 6,000 members of the Air Force. Performers compete for the "Roger," an Air Force equivalent of an Oscar or Emmy.The "Tops in Blue" group has 30 members, including vocalists, instrumentalists, dancers and comedians. The patriotic, family-oriented program features music ranging from Broadway tunes to Grammy-winning songs.

The group makes a tour of major Air Force installations and will also play later this year in more than 27 foreign countries, including 14 in Eastern Europe. "Tops in Blue" has played at Disneyland, Disney World and the Super Bowl in past years.
