Libya revealed Thursday it was interrogating at least a dozen army officers and others accused of spying for the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency.
Libyan Foreign Minister Omar AlMuntasser said, "We discovered a spy network but not a rebellion at all like the Western media have been claiming."AlMuntasser told reporters at a press conference in the Libyan capital that the suspects, including an unspecified numbers of army officers, were found to be conducting contacts with the CIA and were arrested in September.
He said the suspects had communications equipment, were using satellite dishes in these contacts and were found to have met with CIA people.
The Libyan official said no other foreign countries or intelligence services were involved in this plot.
Recent reports have said a rebellion or a coup attempt was staged by Libyan army officers and was crushed by the country's leader, Col. Moammar Gahdafi.
