A noon fire on Monday at 11335 S. Poloma Drive has been blamed on combustion from items stored too close to the furnace.

Fire Capt. Gary Childs said the items "had been stacked there so long they had eventually gotten super-dry" and ignited, spreading fire in the basement and through the opening around the furnace vent into the main and upper floors of the house.A woman and two children were in the house at the time of the fire but escaped safely. Childs said damage has been estimated at $30,000.
