We are focused on guns - while the alcohol pushers have free rein of the cities of America. Very few sober guns ever shoot at anyone. In the riots, the first stores looted were whiskey and wine and beer stores.
Usually, the key to a criminal starts with alcohol. There's more attention in the media following criminals around than is ever found in the same media following good around. With the party that's going on in the jails - TV, free food, etc. - it is almost appealing to offenders to do some awful thing just to get in.
The Army double-bunked men in tight quarters all through the '40s, '50s, '60s, early '70s - the ACLU said nothing. But let the jails double-bunk and waa-aa.
We need to come out of denial, folks. Remember the 18-year-olds who were drafted by the thousands and sent to die in some other country's hamlets and streets? What better duty for reserve Army and Guardsmen than to protect our own streets and clean up our own mess.
