After nearly two months of negotiations, outfielder Tim Raines returned to the Chicago White Sox, agreeing to an $11 million, three-year contract.

Several others also returned to old teams, with first baseman Gerald Perry and St. Louis agreeing at $650,000, down $150,000 from 1993. Infielder Keith Miller and outfielder Chris Gwynn re-signed with the Royals, pitcher Shawn Boskie with the Cubs and infielder Bill Spiers with Milwaukee. The Yankees signed Sam Horn, who had four homers and eight RBIs in 12 games for Cleveland last season, to a minor-league contract.
