A 1984 budget of $337,000 has been proposed by the Garfield County Travel Council, one of the most active travel councils in the state.
The budget, if the money is forthcoming, would compare to a budget of $309,000 that was projected for 1993, according to Bruce Fullmer, council executive director. The Travel Council's budget must be approved by the Garfield County Commission because most of the money comes from transient-room taxes. Among other revenue sources are sales of placemats and the Bryce Canyon Rim Run.
Travel Council officials are concerned about income to meet budget projections, however. Fullmer reported revenues through the third quarter of this year lag behind that of 1992.
One bright spot in the revenue picture centered on receipts for October, amounting to about $3,000 more than last year.
If that trend continues, fourth-quarter revenue may exceed that of the previous year and alleviate a possible funding shortfall, Fullmer said.
