Four-year-old Noah Moss got a Mighty Morphin' Power Ranger for Hanukkah but gave up the hottest, hardest-to-find new toy of the season to brighten the Christmas of a paralyzed boy he had never met.
Don and Gayle Thomas said they believe the toy is helping their 7-year-old son Ryan recover from the disease that paralyzed him from the neck down."He touched the toy with his right hand, and then he held it," Gayle Thomas said. "He spoke more clearly, too, and you just should have seen his smile."
Noah gave Ryan the gift on Thursday after his family read in the newspaper about the boy's love for the Power Rangers, which are next to impossible to find in stores.
"I'm very proud of my son, especially when holiday times can seem so selfish," said Noah's father, Paul Moss.
The Power Rangers, based on a TV program, are teenagers who can mutate into crimefighters.
"He just loves those Power Rangers," Gayle Thomas said. "I used to tape the program for him every Saturday so he could watch it when he got back from his swimming club. And when he got sick, I told him to call the Power Rangers into himself so he could gain their strength."
