If you still don't have the Christmas spirit, maybe a little holiday music can help. Continuous Christmas music can be found on at least four Wasatch Front radio stations.
KSFI (alias "FM-100") is in the midst of its annual "100 Hours of Christmas Music," and KSRR (AM-1400 and AM-1230) is also airing nothing but holiday songs. KBZN (alias "The Breeze," FM-97.9) will air its own brand of continuous Christmas music beginning at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve. KSOS (AM-800, FM-92, 96.7, 98.3 and 106.9) is playing all-holiday music on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Enjoy.- THE BONNEVILLE LDS RADIO NETWORK will begin a new program next month - "Foundations of Faith" - that will honor Mormon pioneers. Premiering at 7 p.m. Jan. 20, it will feature eight well-known narrators: Steve Young, Norman and Colleen Bangerter, Rex L. Campbell, Jake and Kathleen Garn and Robbie and Karen Bosco.
Music by Lex de Azevedo and the London National Philharmonic Orchestra also will be included. The show will revisit some of the challenges, trials and triumphs of the pioneers. Call 575-7663 for more information.
- KSOP (AM-1370/FM-104.3) awarded its annual $10,000 in Christmas cash to Joe Knight of Sandy, one of thousands of listeners with Country Club Cards who tried to qualify for the big drawing since Nov. 1. Knight won the money in a Dec. 18 drawing. How will he spend it? He plans to do some work on his Jeep first.
- KKBE (FM-95.5) - Bob, one of the Super Gospel Network hosts, gets some really bizarre callers. On Wednesday afternoon he had a death threat live on the air. Bob chose to censor some of the caller's profanity but aired the portions where the man said "I know where you are . . . I'm going to kill you!"
Bob shrugged off the call as being one of many similar threats he receives. He didn't act as if he would report it to the police and, as you might guess, believes God will protect him.
The call was a real attention getter and didn't seem staged.
KKBE airs the syndicated gospel program, and fortunately Bob lives out of state.
- KUER (FM-90.1) - "A Jazz Piano Christmas" will air Friday, Dec. 24, at 9 p.m. with singer Tony Bennett.
- On Christmas Day at 7 p.m., KUER will present "Joy to the World: A Jazz Celebration of Christmas" with "Christmas at McCabe's" at 9 p.m.
- At 8 p.m. Dec. 31, "New Year's Eve Coast to Coast" will be heard on KUER, and "New Year's Day from Vienna" will air Jan. 1 at 12:05 p.m.
Also on New Year's Day, "The Capitol Steps' 1993 Year in Review Revue" will be broadcast at 7 p.m.
- KBYU (FM-89.1) will rebroadcast "Glad Tidings" at 7 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday the Temple Square Concert Series will feature Handel's Messiah, and "Glad Tidings" will repeat at 7 p.m.
For New Year's Eve, "A Classic New Year's Eve Party," with Peter Schickele and the King's Kingers airs at 8 p.m., and a live broadcast of "New Year's Eve with the Utah Symphony" is planned for 10 p.m.
On Jan. 1, "New Year's Day from Vienna 1994" will be broadcast at 8:30 a.m.
- MORNING RADIO HAPPENINGS - You can find "Fisher and Todd" of KISN-FM on the air Sunday evenings. Although their "Top 20 Countdown" is probably taped, it's very well done and includes lots of supplementary entertainment. It begins at 9 p.m., and the No. 1 song doesn't come along until after 10. On Wednesday, the DJs were giving away what they said was the greatest Christmas gift for a woman, a "Stop It" device that stops all remote-control TV devices in a home. Later, they had a gift exchange . . .
Mark Grover of Provo was the lucky winner Monday of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle in KRSP-FM's "Hog for the Holidays" giveaway . . .
Winning prizes on the "Ron and Allen" show on KBER can be difficult. Tuesday, a caller had to break a cassette tape over his cousin's head - on the air - before the DJs gave them both a prize . . .
"Mike in the Morning" on KZHT presents a "Geek of the Week" award . . . "Jon and Dan" on KLZX took some time off this week, while "Greg" filled in for them. The station will play the 93 greatest classic rock albums of all time on Dec. 31. In conjunction with that promotion, Jon and Dan will give away a $1,500 CD player and numerous CDs in the special prize drawing Jan. 3 . . .
"Kerry and Bill" on KXRK took listener suggestions Wednesday on where to find the best Christmas light displays. Bill kept giving away Christmas kisses to callers. Later "Gumby," a regular "X-96" character, had his memory tested with "Just Ask Gumby."
The morning DJs also announced they were starting their own clothing line this week - "Hell's Secret: Intimate Apparel for Guys." Kerry and Bill said some men like to wear women's underthings but are afraid to talk about it, and so this clothing line is for them . . .
One of the newest promotional slogans for the Cano and Simmons on KKAT is "The Morning Guys, every day, but never on Sunday."
