Salt Lake police reported two separate robberies in the pre-dawn hours Friday.

A 29-year-old Kearns man told police he was walking near 200 S. State just before 2 a.m. when a man in a car pulled up and offered to drive him home for $10.The victim got in the car, and then the driver started to hit and kick him. Then the driver stopped and pulled the victim from the car by his hair and took cash out of his pants pocket.

The victim then ran to a convenience store at 800 South and 900 West and called police. He was able to give them several possible license plate numbers for the suspect's car.

At 3:07 a.m., the 54-year-old clerk at the Circle K convenience store at 10 W. North Temple said a man who said he had a gun inside his pocket demanded money and then fled the store after the clerk gave him cash from the cash register.
