The Christmas spirit is aglow in the Country Wood Estates neighborhood in Sandy, thanks to 13,000 luminarias placed on both sides of the street as a Cub Scout project that involved more than 520 homes. The practice comes from a Spanish tradition of lighting the path to church at Christmas so children can bring presents to the Christ child. Sand is poured into paper bags, and candles are placed in the sand.
