Snow College named Jon Judkins head coach of its men's basketball team on Tuesday. As interim coach, Judkins led the Badgers to a 4-7 record after taking over for Elliott Anderson, who suffered a heart attack in the middle of the regular season.
Anderson resigned due to health concerns at the end of the season but will stay on as an instructor in the physical education department."I'm excited about the opportunity to prove myself as a head coach," Judkins said. "There is a lot of pressure, but at the same time it's very exciting."
Judkins was a two-year starter at Highland High School. After a year at Dixie College and two years on an LDS mission, Judkins played for three years at Utah State University, where he was a starter and a sixth man.
After graduating from USU in 1989, Judkins spent one season as an assistant coach at Snow College under Larry Anderson and then four years as an assistant to Elliott Anderson.
Judkins brother Jeff is an assistant to Rick Majerus at the University of Utah.
"The hardest part is recruiting . . . I'm not going to rely on help from Jeff, but I hope he can give me some leads," Judkins said.
