The 15 people honored Thursday by the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission:

- Dixie College student Mark White, 17, of Canyon Country, Calif., jumped into a flooded channel and, after being pulled along by the rushing water, helped a 54-year-old woman to safety on Feb. 10, 1992.- David F. Gulini, 38, of Midvale, saved a 6-year-old boy who was hanging by his neck from a ski lift in Alta on March 17, 1992.

- Herman Ray Perdue Jr., 30, entered a burning house in El Dorado, Ark., on Nov. 1, 1991, and saved a 1-year-old girl who was trapped in the kitchen.

- Jennifer C. Beyer, 22, fell through the icy surface of a canal in Appleton, Wis., on Feb. 14, 1992, while trying to reach a 9-year-old boy who was drowning. She held the boy's head above water until police pulled both to safety.

- Robert C. Lord, 36, of Blythe, Ga., pulled an unconscious pilot and passenger from a burning airplane that crashed shortly after taking off on Dec. 30, 1991.

- Mitchell E. Davis, 31, of Greenville, S.C., saved a man and his daughter from a car that caught fire near Davis' home on April 4, 1992.

- Kevin J. Pospichal, 28, of Cottage Grove, Wis., stopped his car after witnessing an auto accident on Feb. 28, 1992, and helped a man pull his wife from a burning car.

- John Wendell MacLean, 55, died five days after saving a 3-year-old boy from a burning house trailer in Inverness, Nova Scotia. MacLean tried unsuccessfully to save the boy's mother, who died in the March 14, 1992, blaze.

- Leonard Russell Gagnon, 25, broke a window and climbed into a burning house in his Oshawa, Ontario, neighborhood to save a 2-year-old boy on July 12, 1992.

- Darren Michael Best, 25, of Rathdrum, Idaho, came upon an auto accident on March 13, 1992, and rescued a woman and her son from their overturned burning pickup truck.

- Clement D. Paul, 33, of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, paddled a sleigh through cracking ice to rescue a fellow hunter who had fallen through the surface into a lake on Nov. 11, 1990.

- Richard A. Smith, 32, of Leeton, Mo., helped save one man and tried to help save another who fell unconscious while working on an underground water main on Aug. 29, 1991.

- Douglas Glenn DeBolt, 30, of Richmond, Va., entered a burning house March 3, 1992, while visiting in Hampton, Va., and saved a 1-year-old boy who was in a crib.

- John C. Chappell, 28, of Midwest City, Okla., fell into a swiftly moving creek while saving a 9-year-old boy from drowning in Del City, Okla., on June 14, 1992.

- Neil A. Simcox, 33, of Oswego, N.Y., left a house where he was tiling a floor and entered a nearby house to save an 11-month-old girl from a fire on April 3, 1992.
