Utah's two other golfers besides Dan Forsman didn't finish in the top 24 at the Masters as they had hoped.
Orem's Keith Clearwater shot a 74 to finish in a tie for 39th at 293, while St. George's Jay Don Blake shot 76 to tie for 45th at 294.A top-24 finish guarantees a golfer a spot in the exclusive tournament the following year.
Clearwater started off great with consecutive birdies at 1 and 2, but bogeyed three of the next four holes and only made one birdie the rest of the day.
"The last two days were a scoring nightmare for me," said Clearwater, who was generally happy with how he hit the ball this week. "I didn't make a putt and didn't make good decisions."
Clearwater, who played nine consecutive weeks before taking off the week before the Masters, headed home to Utah after Sunday's round.
Blake also started off with a birdie at No. 2 but didn't make another bird the rest of the way. He's been fighting a bad back for several weeks now and it showed Sunday as he hit irons off some of the tees.
"I need to give my back some rest," he said. He had to withdraw during his two previous tournaments.
The others in the Utah connection at the Masters, Dick Zokol and Billy Casper, both missed the cut.
