An LDS missionary from Centerville was killed Sunday night in Madagascar when the car he was riding in was struck by a train.
Jared Marvin Prescott, 20, died while being taken to the local hospital after the crash, according to information released by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Tuesday.Also injured in the crash were Ryan Scott Voigtlaender, Sandy, and Jeffery Allen Nement, Calgary, Alberta. Both Voigtlaender and Nemet suffered minor injuries. The driver, Nathan James Quigley, Yorktown, N.Y., was uninjured.
According to the church statement, Prescott was returning to his apartment in a mission car after a missionary appointment when the car and train collided.
