Toronto Blue Jays left fielder Rickey Henderson missed Saturday's game against the Boston Red Sox and may miss the rest of the weekend series because of a skin burn he received from an ice pack.

The lower outside part of Henderson's left foot was so sensitive Saturday that he couldn't put any weight on the foot, Toronto trainer Tommy Craig said.Henderson, traded to the Blue Jays from Oakland on July 31, was getting treatment for soreness in the left foot before Friday night's game when he accidentally rested his foot on a synthetic Ice Cold pack for about five minutes.

"It didn't hurt until I took it off, and then, `Wow!"' Henderson said.

Henderson was treated with burn cream Saturday and given antibiotics to prevent infection.

"It got kind of a little freezer burn," Craig said. "It's like if you touch (the inside of) a refrigerator and your finger sticks to it. It's just a freak accident. You wouldn't think of it really happening on a tough area of skin like the foot."

Henderson originally went for treatment Friday after fouling a ball off the top of the foot in Thursday's game against Minnesota at Oakland. The burn didn't prevent him from playing Friday, but started bothering him after the game, Craig said.

Darnell Coles started in left field Saturday instead of Henderson.

Craig said he never before had used the artificial ice packs, which are found in visiting clubhouses throughout the major leagues.

"I'll never use those again," he said.
