U. PROFESSOR OF EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION WINS $5,000 AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING TEACHING, CONCERN

A University of Utah professor of educational administration has been awarded the 1993 Calvin S. and Jeneal N. Hatch Prize in Teaching.

L. Jackson Newell will receive the $5,000 award that celebrates outstanding teaching, concern for students and accomplishment in the field.A U. faculty member since 1974, Newell served as dean of liberal education and was the architect of the U.'s nationally recognized program. In 1991, the national Council for the Advancement and Support of Education named him 1991 Utah Professor of the Year.
