Former NL president Chub Feeney died at California Pacific Hospital at 72.

Feeney, who worked for the New York Giants from 1946-1970, rising to general manager, succeeded Warren Giles as NL president in 1970 and retired when A. Bartlett Giamatti took over Dec. 31, 1986.Feeney had a mild stroke attending a game at Candlestick Park July 27. Rich Levin, a spokesman for ruling executive council, said Feeney had a heart attack last week.
