Mervyn Jay Arnold, age 20, was released from his suffering October 1, 1994 in Taylorsville, Utah after having fought a valiant fight with depression. He gave his best under tremendously difficult circumstances, continually showing love and kindness to those around him.
Born October 22, 1973 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of Mervyn B. and Devonna Kress Arnold. Served an honorable LDS mission. Attended Brigham Young University. Served in the deacons quorum presidency, teachers president, and first assistant to the bishop in the priest quorum. He was an Eagle Scout and loved Scouting in Costa Rica. He sang in Taylorsville High School choirs. He loved the outdoors: fishing, camping and hiking.The family would like to thank all family, ward and stake members who taught and nurtured Jay during his lifetime. His parents would also like to thank those at the University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute who understood, loved and cared for Jay during his most difficult time of life.
Survived by his parents; brother, Ryan Wells, serving an LDS Mission in Uraguay; sisters, Heather, Christy and Rachelle; grandparents, Eugene and Gayle Kress, Jasmine Bennion Arnold.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 12 noon at Valley Park 6th Ward, 5233 South 3200 West, where friends may call Tuesday, 11-11:45 a.m. Funeral directors, McDougal Funeral Home.
Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
