Salt Lake native Shaz Bennett will perform in her hometown for the first time since she left for New York three years ago.
On Thursday, Nov. 10, the Cinema Bar (at Spanky's), 45 W. Broadway, will present Bennett's one-woman show "Hungover Angel" at 8 p.m.Having the boyish look of Liza Minelli and the energy to match, Bennett co-founded the "Show Your Teeth" comedy improv that performs weekly at the Cinema Bar and the Bar and Grill.
At age 12, she published her first book, "Almost Shakespeare," and developed her scathing acting style at the University of Utah before moving on to the brighter streets of L.A. and New York.
Her first one-woman show "Stand Up and Act Like a Lady" featured Bennett portraying more than 30 different characters. "Hungover Angel" was directed by Jill Morley and MaryAnn Towne.
Her previous show received such comments as "A wise, wry look at womanhood" (Deseret News) and "She has a commanding presence . . . and terrific connection with the audience" (Jerry Crawford, playwright).
