Gilbert Cates will produce the telecast of this year's annual Academy Awards Presentations for a record-breaking sixth consecutive year.

Academy president Arthur Hiller said Cates' five previous outings as producer have won 39 Emmy nominations and eight awards from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, more than any previous producer.Previous frequent producers of the show were Howard W. Koch with eight shows over a 12-year period, and Arthur Freed with five telecasts and one pre-television show.
