Beatrice Browning Rice, 89, of Salt Lake City, passed away peacefully December 20, 1994 at her home.

She was born June 7, 1905 in Ogden, Utah to Phoebe Houtz and John M. Browning. She is the granddaughter of John M. Browning. She graduated from Briarcliff College in New York. After returning to Salt Lake City she met John D. Rice. They were married September 29, 1930. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1963.She loved animals and was a long-time supporter of the Humane Society. She also volunteered at both Holy Cross and University Hospitals.

She is survived by her loving children, John B. Rice and Louise Rice Burton, and her sister, Barbara B. Prince. Her life revolved around her family and special grandchildren: Kelly Endersby, Ken Burton, John Burton, Katie Burton, Jamie Rice, David Rice and three great-grandchildren: Megan, Jennie and Trisha Endersby.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be sent to the Neonatal Unit at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center, 1050 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84102.

Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Neil O'Donnell and Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
