The top-ranked Sky View Bobcats of 4A received a scare but managed to pull out a 46-40 non-region victory over Wasatch Wednesday night.

Juniors Taffy Smart and Cami Mitchell scored 18 and 13 points, respectively, to lead the way for Sky View (7-0), which trailed heading into the final period.Wasatch (6-4), which is ranked fourth in 3A, made a big charge in the third quarter to take the lead against the taller Bobcats but couldn't hang on in the fourth.

"The two juniors (Smart and Mitchell) did the job tonight," Sky View head coach Alan Wamsley said.

Christy Shepherd led the way for the Wasps with 13 points.

Elsewhere in the state:

Logan 59, Kearns 54

At Logan, the fifth-ranked Grizzlies struggled at home but managed to hold off the Cougars. Wendy McEntire and Jeremi Covington combined for 34 points for Logan (6-1). Rachel Nielsen topped Kearns (2-6) with 21 points.

Valley 69, Dixie 50

At Valley, the top-ranked Buffaloes of 1A jumped out to a 24-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back as they cruised past the Flyers. Cousins Caroline, Tiana and Robyn Heaton combined for 41 points for Valley (10-1). Brittany Booth had 12 for Dixie (3-4).

Layton 79, Bear River 73

At Bear River, Kristine Noel netted 22 points to guide the Lancers to a victory over the Bears. Layton improved to 4-4 on the year despite a 24-point effort by Lisa Richards of Bear River (4-3).

Carbon 73, Park City 17

At Carbon, the Dinos had little problem in taking care of the Miners. Brandi Terrell was the fifth different player to lead Carbon (5-4) in scoring in the last five games with 13 points. Cami Carlson added 10.

Region 12

Morgan 62, South Summit 61

At South Summit, Dallas Bice's jump shot at the buzzer gave the Trojans an upset victory over the second-ranked Wildcats. Bice led Morgan (2-6, 1-1) with 18 points in the nip-and-tuck affair, while Brittani Gordon topped all scorers with 21 for South Summit (5-3, 1-1).

Region 13

South Sevier 72, Parowan 35

At South Sevier, Kaprece Ackerman burned the nets for 26 points to lead the Wolves past the Rams. Tiffany Ockerland and Nan Roberts each added 13 for South Sevier (2-6, 2-2), while teammate Haley Nielson added 12 and eight assists. Jamie Bentley led Parowan (0-5, 0-5) with 16.

Tuesday's late game

Carbon 48, Uintah 44

At Uintah, Cami Carlson and Kara Stewart each scored 11 points to lead the Dinos to a big road win over the Utes. Uintah fell to 5-3 with the loss.
