Emma Lou Markey Westwood, 76, of Salt Lake City, Utah, died Wednesday, December 21, 1994 after a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer.
Born August 20, 1918 to John Patrick and Bessie Carpenter Markey in Roosevelt, Utah. Married E.C. "Ted" Westwood, November 6, 1943, marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He passed away February 16, 1991. Graduated from Uintah High School in Vernal, Utah in 1935. Served in the United States Army during World War II. As a devoted member of her church she took active roles in the Relief Society, Young Women's Organization and the Children's Primary Organization.Survived by three children: Suesan W. Taylor, John S. Westwood, and Jane W. Brown, and eight grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband and parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 24, 1994, at 10 a.m. at the 27th East Ward (5th Ave. & Virginia St.). Friends may call Friday from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, and Saturday at the ward from 9-9:45 a.m. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Emma Lou's wishes were that donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House in Salt Lake City. Her family also wishes to express a special thanks to Salt Lake Community Nursing Hospice Team who provided professional, loving care throughout her many months of illness.
