Hogle Zoo officials and Santa Claus thank Utahns for their donations to the Christmas wish list for zoo animals. But they say more assistance is still needed.
During the past week, the zoo has received several food donations for the animals. Some of the 1,400 animals at the zoo - including Moe, a hippopotamus - have already enjoyed a portion of the donated items. Moe has been feasting on pumpkins.Still needed are unsweetened cereals, rice, raisins, powdered milk, fruits or vegetables, peanut butter, dog or cat food, kitty litter, canned fruit juice, unsalted nuts, oatmeal and bird seed. Items may be contributed through Dec. 31 and left under a Christmas tree in the zoo's main office at 2600 E. Sunnyside Ave.
The office is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call the zoo at 582-1631, ext. 120 or 123, for more information.
