A Duchesne County man remained in critical condition Friday after the oil tanker he was driving collided with a semitrailer truck Wednesday morning.
Warren K. Olsen, 47, Neola, was driving east on U.S. 40 near Strawberry Reservoir about 9 a.m. when his truck drifted across the center line into a semitrailer truck carrying a front-end loader, the Utah Highway Patrol said.A fire erupted when the two trucks collided, but it was quickly extinguished, police said. Olsen was flown by helicopter to LDS Hospital where he underwent surgery.
The west bound semi was driven by Austin J. Kendall, 43, Vernal, who was not hurt in the accident. He was driving for the Utah Army National Guard. Olsen was driving for Darryl B. Taylor Transportation.
The accident is still under investigation, and no citations have been issued.
