On Dec. 13 at approximately 1 p.m., my vehicle was struck by a white Ford Explorer. I was turning north from South Temple onto Main Street with the left turn arrow. The other driver was coming from the opposite direction on South Temple and began to turn north after I was already well into the intersection.

His turn was too wide, and he caved in the passenger door of my small pickup. I followed accepted accident procedures and pulled to the side of the road to exchange insurance and license information. Once he saw that I had exited my vehicle, he quickly pulled into traffic and drove away. His unkind actions forces me to make a very unpleasant decision. I have saved money all year for my children's Christmas, which now must be used to repair a vehicle. Had this driver stopped, I could look to his insurance company to remedy this unfortunate situation.

To this driver I say, please reconsider your actions and accept responsibility for your error. I urge you to contact the Salt Lake City Police Department and set this matter straight.
