Beloved son, husband, father and grandfather slipped into Heavenly Father's arms, Wednesday evening, December 21, 1994, after a lengthy illness.
Allen was born November 6, 1925 to George Alma and Wilma Lavon Christensen Eskelson. He married Sylvia Deloris Herman (whom he lovingly called his bride, even to his last words), on January 23, 1973. On March 7, 1980 they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.After attending Jordan High School, he enlisted in the Navy as a result of action off the coast of France, he was awarded the Purple Heart. An over-the-road-truck driver for 46 years, he was honored by co-workers and was officially commended for driving achievement and highway leadership in over 5 million accident-free miles from the Teamsters Local 222 and the Highway Accredit Assoc. of America.
Allen had a passion for life, he loved the outdoors, whether from a semi cab, hunting, angling, or tinkering on a vehicle. He was renowned for his passion for music and singing. He was proficient at crossword puzzles and cooking. He was a great friend and neighbor. But his greatest passion was his family.
Allen is survived by his mother, Wilma; wife, Sylvia; children, Larry, Darell, Sheldon, Alene, Sherry, Sheila, Alma, Shauna and Allen Shane; 35 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services Tuesday, December 27, 1994 at 11 a.m., Crescent 1st Ward, 116 East 11400 South, Draper, Utah. Viewing Monday evening, December 26, 6-8 p.m., Lakehills Memorial Park, 10055 South State, Sandy, Utah and Tuesday, December 2, 1994, 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the Crescent 1st Ward. Interment will be at the Memorial Estates, 3115 East 7800 South. Funeral Directors, Memorial Estates Mortuary.
