In Athens, Ga., a U.S. Army honor guard carries the flag-draped coffin of former Secretary of State Dean Rusk, who died of heart failure Tuesday at age 85. Sen. Sam Nunn, D-Ga., and Gov. Zell Miller were among several Georgia politicians who packed the First Presbyterian Church to honor the diplomat. Milner Ball, a minister and law professor who taught with Rusk and disagreed with his Vietnam War policy, said Rusk didn't hide from the consequences of his actions. Rusk once said he had worked for peace all his life only to be remembered as a symbol of war. But he never apologized for his role in the controversial war.
