Viola Fairbanks Cook, age 78, passed away December 21, 1994 in West Valley City.
Born May 2, 1916 in Annabelle, Utah, daughter of George McGilvia and Elizabeth Nielson Fairbanks. Later adopted and sealed to Joseph Warren and Estelle Dixon Fairbanks. Married Shelby Cook, Sr., July 3, 1935 in Benjamin, Utah; later solemnized in Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death July 27, 1994. Active member of the LDS Church, serving in many positions including teacher, Cub Scout leader, accomplished pianist and organist, missionary with her husband in the San Bernadino Mission and as a temple worker. Active in politics and was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was an outstanding grandmother.Survived by four sons, Donald E. (Connie), Hillsboro, Oregon; Shelby (Bud), Jr. (Alice), West Valley City; Joseph Arlen (Carole), Clinton; Richard Lynn (Nancy), West Valley City; daughter, Voneen Cook (Bob) Giles, Taylorsville; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Voyle Fairbanks, Mindon, Nev.; Stella F. Tate; Aleda Colby, both of Tooele; Bertha Lloyd; LaRaye Tope, both of Henderson, Nev.; Zella Heineman, Kearns; Marie Roby, Midvale. Preceded in death by son, Calvin Jay Cook.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m, at the Riverview Ward, 955 West 4800 South. Friends may call Monday, 5-7 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Tuesday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m.
Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
