The U.S. Labor Department paid out $1.04 million to 3,466 Utah workers in the last fiscal year because 238 employers failed to pay the required minimum wage or overtime.

Joe Villarreal, regional administrator of the department's Wage and Hour Division in Dallas, said, "The findings are a direct result of the department's continuing commitment to protect workers at the low end of the wage scale."The department disbursed $388,033 to 1,135 Salt Lake County workers; $344,562 to 1,553 Utah County employees; $123,802 to 235 Davis County employees; $76,383 to 192 Weber County workers; and $37,613 to 90 Cache County workers. The lowest total was $204 returned to one Wasatch County worker.
