A Richmond man accused of fondling a woman in a Utah State University bathroom has pleaded guilty to forcible sexual abuse and lewdness.
Jeff Balls, 23, entered guilty pleas Monday in 1st District Court to forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony, and lewdness, a class B misdemeanor. In exchange for his pleas, prosecutors agreed to recommend probation and not oppose a reduction of charges.
The charges stem from a Nov. 5 incident in which Balls turned off the lights of the women's bathroom at the Health, Physical Education and Recreation building, fondled an 18-year-old woman and ran out.
He was questioned by police Dec. 7 after a woman saw him in the locker room of the same building. Balls was arrested later that month following an investigation.
Balls faces one to 15 years in the Utah State Prison and fines of $18,500 for the felony. He also could be ordered to serve six months in jail and pay a $1,850 fine for the misdemeanor. Sentencing was set for May 9.
