The National Collegiate Athletic Association on Wednesday reduced the program's scholarships to 59 for the 1995-1996 season and required that the Bengals forfeit their two 1993 wins - over Division II Chadron State and Mesa State - because the ineligible athlete, Virgil Gardner, played in those games.Gardner also played in eight others, but Idaho State lost those. The forfeits leave the school at 0-11 for 1993.
