The Weber State Wildcats kick off their fall football campaign Monday, with three days of no pad, no contact drills.
Ninety players are expected to report - including 32 returning letterman. The 1994 roster includes 42 players that prepped at Utah high schools.The two-a-day sessions will run 10 a.m to noon and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Coach Dave Arslanian faces a tough rebuilding year with only five defensive starters back and no starters on the offensive side, although junior running back Von Robinson and senior tight end Pat McNerney each started five games last year. The offense took a big hit with the off-season transfers of quarterback Brad Otton to Southern California University and running back Markeith Ross to San Diego State University.
Full contact two-a-days will begin Thursday with the first full scrimmage set for 6:15 p.m., Saturday, at Wildcat Stadium. Two-a-days will conclude Friday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m. with a second scrimmage at Wildcat Stadium. Regular one-a-day practices will run 2:30-5:30 p.m. starting Monday, Aug. 29, as Weber prepares for a Sept. 3 home opener against Western Montana.
Practice sessions are open to the public and are held at the practice field located directly north of the Promontory Hall student dorms.
