"Coach" Frank Mayo Brickey, beloved husband, father, grandfather, associate, friend, and a true Irish man, passed away September 27, 1994 in Salt Lake City.

Born July 5, 1912 in Ironton, Ohio to Emmett Filmore Brickey and Effie Laura Willis Brickey. Frank spent his youth in San Diego, California, where life focused on hard work and a new found love of athletics. Frank was a member of the Class B Southern California State Football Championship team from Grossmont High in 1927. Frank graduated from Arizona State Teachers College at Flagstaff, (Northern Arizona University), lettering three years and chosen all conference in football. Frank played on the Arizona All-Star Team of 1934 against the Chicago Bears, who won the NFL Championship that same year. The Bears won 46 to 6, but the Arizona boys gave it their best. Frank was the founder of the Old Time Athletes Assoc. of Utah.Frank accepted a teaching-coaching job at Duncan High School in Southeastern Arizona. Frank met Mildred Eddins, the math teacher at Duncan and fell in love. With Frank as coach, little Duncan High (180 students) won the prep-basketball championship of all Arizona in 1938, '39, and '40. A feat that stands unequaled to this day. Frank then returned to Arizona State College at Flagstaff as the head football and basketball coach. In 1947, Frank took his basketball team to the NIT where they won four out of five games and took home the consolation honors. Frank then accepted a new coaching challenge. assistant football and basketball coach at the University of Utah. He resigned from the University of Utah in 1956 to enter private industry at Hall Process Company. Frank loved athletics and the men he associated with.

He always believed honesty, self integrity, fair play and setting high goals would lead any young person or team to success. Frank retired from Hall Process in 1979.

Frank and Mildred had five loving children. Bill lives in Oregon, Bob resides in Salt Lake City; Colleen Moss lives in Franklin, Tenn.; Carol Molpus lives in Benton Harbor, Michigan; Sue Allbee resides at West Point, New York; Frank has 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mildred passed away in 1983.

Frank married Bette Russell Andrews on November 14, 1986. Frank was blessed with a new family of two children, Sharon Andrews and Debbie Green; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Frank and Bette shared a wonderful eight years. Her loving care and affection gave Frank great joy and much happiness.

Funeral services will be 12 noon, Friday, at the First United Methodist Church, 203 South 200 East, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Friends may also call Thursday evening from 7-8 p.m. at Evans & Early Mortuary, 574 East 100 South. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
