Kazuo Matsubayashi was commissioned to design and install a work of public art in the median island at North Temple and 300 West. Installed Jan. 24, the work is titled, "Dancing Clowns." The project was funded by the Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City, which also selected the location.

- The Utah Arts Council has opened an "Artist Resource Center" at the Union Pacific Depot. The Artist Resource Center was developed to provide pertinent information and tools in order to assist artists in developing their professional careers. The center has books, periodicals and files that provide information on the business aspects, funding sources, calls for entries and opportunities in the arts. Current periodicals on the arts also are available including, Art Calendar, American Craft, Camera View, Art Week, Ceramics Monthly and Art in America. The Center is available to artists, by appointment, for browsing, computer and copying use and consultation. For further information, call Betsy Quintana, Assistant Visual Arts Coordinator, 533-5757.- James Charles from Salt Lake City and Kathy Minck of Orem have been selected as winners of the two Utah Arts Council's 1995 $5,000 Visual Artist Fellowships. The winners were announced recently at the opening of "A View of Nine," an exhibition including the works of the competition's nine finalists. Guest jurist was Dianne Perry Vanderlip, curator of the Modern and Contemporary Art Department, Denver Museum of Fine Art.

- The Hippodrome Gallery of FHP Health Care presents "Women Photographers in Camera Work," a traveling exhibit organized by the George Eastman House, Rochester, NY. The show opens Saturday, Feb. 4, and runs through April 15, featuring some of the most distinctive women photographers illustrated in the deluxe magazine Camera Work (1903-1917). Camera Work was established by the members of Photo-Secession, a group of pictorialist photographers who regarded photography as fine art. The quarterly was published and edited by the famed photographer and modernist Alfred Stieglitz.

- "Let's Print It!" a creative workshop for families is being offered by the University of Utah Youth Institute and Utah Museum of Fine Arts on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Families are invited to come explore the world of "Ink, Paper, Metal and Wood," an exhibition of prints made with these materials. Then, using the exhibition as inspiration, children ages 7 to 12 will experiment with a variety of materials to create original prints.
