WOMEN'S GOLF: The latest edition of the Rolex collegiate golf rankings lists the BYU women's team as 19th in the nation.
Ai Lian Lim rates No. 15 in the Rolex/Nicklaus ndividual rankings with teammate Catalina Navarro tied for 56th and Stephanie Belnap tied for 83rd. Lim won the BYU invitational and was second in the San Diego State Invitational.
The Rolex Collegiate Rankings are based primarily on results from the Rolex Collegiate Tour and are administered by the College Golf Foundation.
The BYU women's team completed its fall season this week placing third at the San Diego State Invitational. The team had won its own invitational, was ninth in the Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque and placed fifth in the Edean Ihlanfeldt meet at Redmond, Wash.
MEN'S GOLF: Next stop on the BYU men's fall golf tour will be the Stanford Fall Invitational. The competition will be held Friday and Saturday on the Stanford Golf Course, site of next spring's NCAA West Regional.
Most of the 15 competing teams come from the Midwest including Colorado, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, Northwestern, SMU and Wisconsin. Host Stanford and BYU will be the only western teams in the field.
The tourney was not held last year while the famed course was being renovated. It was on this same Stanford location that Brigham Young University won it's 1981 NCAA championship.
The two-day event will feature 36 holes on Friday and 18 on Saturday.
Weber State
MEN'S, WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: With two weeks of intense practice behind them, Weber State's men's and women's basketball teams unveil themselves in the annual Purple-White Intra-Squad games.
Both games are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 2, in the Dee Events Center. Admission is free.
The women, under the direction of coach Carla Taylor, are scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m. followed by coach Ron Abegglen's men's squad at 7:30.
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: The Wildcat volleyball team takes to the road this weekend on its last Big Sky road trip of the season. The 'Cats play Eastern Washington on Friday at 7 p.m. in Cheney, Wash., and take on league leader University of Idaho on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Moscow.
The Wildcats are currently 15-10 on the season, 4-7 in Big Sky action after losing two Big Sky matches at home last weekend. The Wildcats defeated in-state rival University of Utah on Tuesday 3-2 to win both matches with the Utes including a 3-1 win earlier in the season at Salt Lake City.
Westminster
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: The Lady Parsons ended their inaugural season with a 15-3, 15-3, 15-5 loss to Snow College, with Westminster finishing the year with an 0-8 record.
"We were like the Jamaican bobsled team," said setter Josie Gay. "We were all walk-ons who came from different walks of life, having to come together to make something of ourselves. I think we did a good job of coming together and making a team."
