Alton Dean Inc., 1547 W. 2290 South, a company that has developed technology to deliver warm sterile intra-venous and irrigation solutions used during and after surgery, has been acquired by Mal-linck-rodt Group Inc., St. Louis. Terms weren't disclosed.

"Mallinckrodt Medical is an exceptionally well-positioned company through which our products can obtain a truly international presence," said Larry Rigby, chairman of the privately held Alton Dean.Alton Dean's fluid warmer can be used by emergency room physicians, anesthesiologists, general surgeons, gynecologists, urologists and orthopedic surgeons for the infusion of intravenous solutions and blood or blood products and the controlled delivery of high volume surgical irrigation solutions.

Robert G. Moussa, Mallinckrodt's president and chief executive officer, said Alton Dean's patented fluid warmer technology complements his company's line of anesthesia and critical care products.

Alton Dean was founded by Rigby and Dixon Ford, both former vice presidents of Sorenson Research Co. Ford is the company president of Alton Dean. Rigby also is the founder of CardioPulmonics, now called Innerdyne.
