Old Mill Golf Course set for construction
After years of waiting, the Old Mill Golf Course will finally begin construction later this fall.
The course, to be built at 3000 East and 6200 Sourth, will fill a huge golfing void on the southeast side of the Salt Lake Valley.
"This project has been on the back burner for decades," said Salt Lake County Commissioner Brent Oveerson. "The southeast area is ripe for new recreation and green space."
Besides an 18-hole golf course, a practice range, club-house and parking will be built on the old gravel pit east of I-215.
Bids will likely be opened in October and construction is set to begin in November. It should be completed by the summer of 1997 and be opened to the public in early 1998.
