The gears of justice, after years of delay, are moving for Adam Galli.

The "preppy bandit" has four trial dates scheduled in 3rd District Court on aggravated robbery charges. A fifth is pending while his sixth, and final, case - a capital murder charge - is set for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 18.Each of six cases, five aggravated robberies and one capital murder, are all assigned to a different judge. That means six separate juries, six separate court reporters and six separate calendars to work around.

With all the hassle, prosecutors and defense attorneys might be thinking about plea bargains.

Not true, at least not yet, says Salt Lake Deputy District Attorney Robert Stott.

"We haven't had any discussions like that. As far as I know, we'll be going to trial on all of those," he said.

Galli's legal defender, Lisa Remal, does not discuss any of her cases with news reporters and did not return phone messages.

Separate calendars aside, prosecutors have said they have "strong" cases against Galli in the robberies. His alleged crimes, according to court documents:

Sept. 21, 1991 - A man with a handgun enters Casa Del Sol, 1114 E. Fort Union Blvd., and accosts the clerk. The clerk identifies Galli as her assailant.

April 29, 1992 - Two men burst into King's English Book Store, 1511 S. 1500 East, and rob the clerk at gunpoint. Witnesses identify Galli from a photo lineup; one of his fingerprints is found on the cash register.

May 5, 1992 - Two white males with guns rob Trolley Corners Theaters, 515 S. 700 East. Nathan Galli, cousin to Adam, tells police Adam and his brother, Christopher, went inside and committed the robbery while he and cousin, Nathan, acted as lookouts.

May 17, 1992 - Two white males enter Green Parrot Cafe, 155 W. 200 South, just before closing. They are confronted by cook Merritt Riordan, who struggles with them and then is shot dead.

June 6, 1992 - Two white males took money from employees at Mann Theaters, 5001 S. Highland Dr. Adam Galli told police a month later that he was one of the men who robbed the theaters.

June 6, 1992 - Two white males take cash from a clerk at The Tool Shed, 402 E. 6th Ave., two hours before the Mann stickup. The clerks identify Adam Galli as one of the robbers.

Court observers once predicted prosecutors would have to drop the capital murder charge against Adam Galli since his cousin, Christopher, tainted his testimony after the murder trial of Aaron Galli. Aaron is so far the only one of the bandits who was tried in Riordan's death. Aaron Galli's murder conviction was later overturned and prosecutors dropped the murder charge against him.

Now, however, Nathan Galli, who previously refused to testify, has indicated his willingness "to build a stronger case" against his cousins in the Green Parrot case.

FBI agents arrested Adam Galli three weeks ago in Minnesotta. He had fled Utah three years ago just before prosecutors charged him with the murder.
