Dan Truman, like every other member of Diamond Rio, is pretty much sick of answering one question: Where did they get the name of the band?

"We've probably been asked that about 3 million times," Truman said with a laugh. "Actually, Diamond Reo is the name of a trucking company in Harrisburg, Pa. And we just kind of stole the name."Actually, they researched the trademark and contacted the trucking company directly.

"And when they found out we were going to use their name, they were thrilled," he said. "They invited us and we visited them at their offices and toured their factory."

It's not the first time a band has been named after the trucking company, however.

"REO Speedwagon got their name from the same company 20 years ago," Truman said.

As to the name itself, it was the end result of eight months of looking for a new name. The band started out as the Tennessee River Boys, and "that was definitely out of sync."

"At one point we decided we were going to be called the T-Town Mavericks," Truman said.

But, fortunately, a record company executive suggested Diamond Reo. And, with a bit of a spelling change, that was it.

"We just liked the sound of it. It sounded kind of country but, at least four years ago, it sounded kind of contemporary," Truman said.
