Brian Lee intercepted three passes and No. 17 Wyoming extended the longest winning streak in Division I-A to 12 games Saturday with a 59-17 romp over Southern Methodist.
The Cowboys (9-0, 6-0 Western Athletic Conference) picked off five passes. Lee intercepted two in the first quarter, and his third of the game tied a school record set by Selmer Pederson in 1950.Josh Wallwork passed for 306 yards and two touchdowns for Wyoming, which led 42-3 at halftime. Len Sexton rushed for a career-high 152 yards and Marcus Harris caught passes for 188 yards for the Cowboys.
Colorado St. 42, Air Force 41
At Air Force Academy, Colo., Moses Moreno hit a diving Jeremy Calhoun on a 21-yard touchdown pass with 45 seconds left, capping a furious rally that carried Colorado State to a wild win over Air Force.
Calhoun's score was the fourth straight CSU touchdown after the Rams had fallen behind by 27 points, 41-14, in the third quarter.
The win offset a brilliant performance by AFA quarterback Beau Morgan, who ran for a career-high 243 yards and four touchdowns and passed for another.
Fresno St. 41, Boise St. 7
At Fresno, Calif., Jim Sweeney became the 16th major-college coach to achieve 200 victories when Fresno State beat Boise State. Michael Pittman rushed for 212 yards and a touchdown as Fresno State (4-4) got the milestone victory for Sweeney, who has announced his retirement after 19 seasons at Fresno State and 32 overall in coaching.
San Diego State 49, San Jose 20
At San Jose, Calif., San Diego State used a turnover and trickery to get its offense started, and Billy Blanton took over from there.
Blanton threw for 307 yards and four touchdowns, two each to Will Blackwell and Nate Jacquet, and the Aztecs beat San Jose State for their fourth win in five games.
Texas Christian 42, UNLV 34
At Fort Worth, Texas, backup John Williams' 69-yard TD run in the fourth quarter gave Texas Christian some breathing room as the Horned Frogs (3-5, 2-3 WAC) defeated UNLV.
The loss was the 12th in a row and the 13th straight on the road for UNLV (0-10, 0-6).
New Mexico 34, Tulsa 23
At Tulsa, Okla., Reginal Johnson rushed for 232 yards and all five New Mexico touchdowns as the Lobos rallied to beat Tulsa.
New Mexico (5-4, 2-4 WAC) won by forcing three turnovers and shutting down the Golden Hurricane in the second half. The Lobos outgained Tulsa 453 yards to 393.
Tulsa blew a 23-12 lead.
