John Gotti's lawyer was suspended from practicing law for six months because he disobeyed a federal judge's order against commenting on the prosecution of the mob boss.

New York's court system suspended Bruce Cutler on Thursday because of his 1994 federal conviction for criminal contempt. His lawyer said Cutler's just glad he wasn't disbarred.Judge I. Leo Glasser, who presided at Gotti's 1991 racketeering trial, took the unusual step of removing Cutler as Gotti's defense lawyer. He did so after prosecutors labeled Cutler "house counsel" to the Gambino crime family and said he could be called as a witness. In the end, Cutler didn't testify.
