Eight new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. The mission presidents and their wives will begin their service about July 1. Their assignments will be announced later. The new mission presidents are:

- Salvador Aquirre, 43, Zona Escolar Ward, Mexico City Mexico Cuautepec Stake; seminary teacher; former stake president and counselor, bishop, and branch president; communications and systems information manager for the Church; received certificate in electrical engineering from University of Autonoma Metropolitana and graduated in communications and electronics from National Politecnico Institute; born in Mexico City; married Alma Soto N., six children. She is a Primary president's counselor; former Relief Society president and counselor, and Primary president; born to Carlos Soto A. and Alma Nagel de Soto G.- Trevor A. Beatson, 55, Tarawera Ward, Rotorua New Zealand Stake; multi-stake public affairs director; former regional representative, stake president, high councilor, bishop, executive secretary, and elders quorum president; police district commander; attended Victoria University in Wellington and Auckland University; born in Kaitaia, New Zealand, to Alan Garth and Jessie Wright Beatson; married Lorna Phillips, three children. She is a Church social services counselor; former stake Relief Society president's counselor, Primary president, teacher development director, Relief Society music director, young adults teacher, and seminary teacher; received a teaching diploma from Wellington Teachers College and attended Church College of New Zealand; born in Warkworth, New Zealand, to William Leonard and Ngaroma Anaru Phillips.

- Craig R. Hickman, 46, Edgemont 14th Ward, Provo Utah Edgemont Stake; priests quorum adviser; former stake president's counselor, stake assistant executive secretary, bishop and counselor, elders quorum president, and missionary in the Brazil Central Mission; author and consultant; received bachelor's degree in economics and English from BYU and master's degree in business administration from Harvard University; born in Borger, Texas, to Winston Whitehead and Verla Bingham Hickman; married Pamela Lewis, four children. She is Young Women president; former Relief Society president, Primary president's counselor, Young Women president's counselor, Primary teacher and chorister, Relief Society teacher, and ward family history representative; received bachelor's degree in secondary education from BYU; born in Brigham City, Utah, to Raymond Aaron and Margaret Elaine Tingey Lewis.

- Thomas G. Jones, 50, Peoria 2nd Ward, Peoria Arizona Stake; Sunday School teacher; former stake president and counselor, high councilor, bishop, and elders quorum president; dealer/

owner of Jones Automotive Group; received bachelor's degree in accounting from Arizona State University and attended BYU; born in Phoenix, Ariz., to Glenn Alvin and Vernell Johnson Jones; married Kathleen Sasser, six children. She is a seminary teacher; former Relief Society president and counselor, Primary president, Young Women president and adviser, Relief Society teacher, and Scout committee chairman; received bachelor's degree in elementary education from Arizona State University and attended BYU; born in Phoenix, Ariz., to Ernest Kelly and Zena Cummard Sasser.
