Half of Milli Vanilli must spend six months at a residential drug rehab program followed by three months in jail.
Robert Pilatus, 31, was sentenced Monday in Los Angeles after pleading no contest to three assault charges.In one assault, Pilatus beat a man with a metal lamp base at a Hollywood apartment, then telephoned him the next day and threatened to kill him, police said.
Pilatus has been enrolled in drug treatment programs in the past, authorities said.
Pilatus and Fabrice Morvan were stripped of the best-new-artist Grammy in 1990 following revelations that they never sang a note on their best-selling "Girl, You Know It's True" recording. They reformed as Rob and Fab in 1991 but had little success.
