Tony Tangaro, 77, died July 9, 1996 at his home in Midvale.
Born January 21, 1919 in Sunnyside, Utah, to Joe and Agatha Media Tangaro. Married Ona Lorraine Rasmussen in Price, Utah, May 26, 1941. Tony started his career at the young age of 13 with the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad. He worked on the tipple for Hiawatha Coal Mines until 1937, and moved to Bingham, Utah in 1939 where he met his wife, Ona Rasmussen, and worked for Kennecott Copper until 1945. Tony returned to Price in 1945 and became a painter and bartender. He worked for A & W Produce until 1950 and A & Z Produce until 1958. He founded Dina Produce in 1958, and T & E Produce in 1962. Tony was good-hearted, giving, and a wonderful father and husband. His favorite pastime was being with his grandchildren.Survived by wife, Ona Tangaro; children, Rosalie Ann Tangaro, Anthony Paul Tangaro (June), Lorraine A. Van Otten (Tom), Gene Clair Tangaro (Ida); 11 grandchldren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Tangaro, St. Louis, Missouri; sisters, Catherine Fratto, Salt Lake City; Mary Sprague, Midvale; Velia Cuatto, Salt Lake City; and Anita Van Dyke, Santa Monica, Calif. Preceded in death by an infant son, Frank C. Tangaro, his parents and brothers, Frank, Joe, Jay and John.
Funeral services Friday, July 12, 1 p.m., Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, where friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m., with Rosary at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association.
